“Do You Love the Word of God?”
by Ruth Hryshkanych
I was amazed this morning.
Mike loved the Word of God, read it daily and lived what he read in obedience to it.
A group of people in Thessalonica did the same thing; and how God describes them, also describes what Mike wanted his life to be and what it became.
I remember “your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 1:3)
He was loved by God, chosen by Him.
He came to Christ as his Savior “not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction.”
He became “a model to all believers” and the “Lord’s message rang out” from him.
His “faith in God has become known” in so many places (even through his death).
He turned from “idols” – to “serve the living and true God and to wait for His Son from Heaven – Jesus!”
Oh, the impact that happens when we live by the Word of God!
I am challenged again – by the Word Mike loves, and to live as he lived in Christ.
If you read this far, if you loved Mike, be blessed and be challenged with me, OK?
He loved you and so do I.
Mike Hryshkanych went to be with the Lord January 24, 2017. His love for others and devotion to God have been experienced by thousands of people at Lake Lundgren Bible Camp over the past 40+ years. Mike faithfully read God’s Word, and was transformed by it. Romans 15:4 says “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
Mike’s hope was confidently in Christ…both as he lived and as he died. He was an excellent example of a godly man, and will be greatly missed!
